Glam Smokey Eye*
I posted this video look awhile back to my Facebook page alijmuah and Youtube. This look is essentially a makeup artist basic know-how. If you can learn how to do a smokey eye you are set for life! (Seriously you dont need to know anything else!).
What I love about a smokey eye is that the look only changes when you use different colors but the technique stays the same. To achieve this all you need is two cohesive eyeshadows and a blending brush.
The first shadow will be placed all over your eyelid. Use a shadow brush or your finger (like I often do) it doesn't matter as long as its on there! Next pick up a little of the second eyeshadow on your brush *which must be darker than the first color* and just go back and forth in your crease. They key here is to get the lid color to blend into the crease color.
VOILA*
You have achieved a smokey eye! What makes Dominique's look in the video a G L A M smokey eye is that I used intense black all over the lid with a winged liner and false lashes. For some this isn't an every day look but you can tone it down with a dark brown or softer natural colors all blended out into the crease.
Above are pallets from Charlotte Tilburry and just a quick example of how you can use multiple shades to create a smokey eye.
QUICK TIPS:
- When using dark colors on lid, blend out with lighter color (either same tone or a brown)
- When using lighter colors on lid, blend out with darker color
- Blend crease color under eye for more smokey effect
- Add a wing liner for intesity
- Add liner in your water line for intesity
